As for my thoughts on the show, it only has a few great episodes, but I enjoyed the watch.
Gave it 7 out of 10. Sometimes you just need a sweet vanilla romance. Plus I try to judge each romance anime on their own and not respective to others in the same season. It's why I enjoyed "Love After World Domination," "Kaguya-sama: Love is War" (upcoming film confirmed) and "My Dress-Up Darling." They each brought something different to the romantic table. However, even I have to draw the line at some like "Aharen Is Indecipherable," which bored me and trolled me. But some people like the show and I won't judge.
It just depends on people's tastes, moods and feelings. I won't judge if you loved or hated Shikimori. There will be tons more romance anime in the future. So pick your battles and enjoy the ones you start to their sweet (or bittersweet) conclusions. They'll always be another on the horizon yet to get an anime (Example: Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me Manga) or a classic in the past you missed (Example: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Manga).

Once again you have idiots that say start from the beginning smh, imma throw a ballpark a estimate, as much as you can google this and say ch 63 and onward. I think it covered a lot (tho there’s always 1 that will bitch about how much they skipped) but but I’m sure there’s enough source material for a season two in the future. Hopefully the near future.

We're talking about a romance series in here, not much spoiler happening. Also the TS asked if the anime skipped some chapters from the manga, which is yes, they skipped lotta stuff. Please learn to understand the atmosphere.

First of all, way to dismiss anyone who provides a legitimate criticism to the anime as an entitled whiny bitch.
And second, I think you're seriously underplaying just how much content the anime skipped. I just counted the other day, and the anime adapted up to roughly chapter 62 (plus chapters 64, 65.5, 69, and 95.5). If the anime didn't skip a single chapter, this would add up to a total of 70 chapters (including bonus chapters). However, the anime skipped a whopping 23 chapters (yes I counted), an entire third of the supposed number of chapters meant to be adapted. In addition, 10 chapters were very loosely adapted/significantly changed. This brings the tally to 37 chapters adapted faithfully, 10 chapters with major changes, and 23 chapters skipped entirely.
Manga readers aren't being whiny when they complain about the number of chapters skipped in the anime. It's a legitimate problem that affects the anime in many different ways.

Unless you're going to buy your own copy of the manga, manga4life is the best site to read Shikimori on because it uses the official translation, and it includes a lot of bonus content and bonus chapters that other sites like MangaDex and MangaKakalot don't.

man you guys just look for a reason to throw your hat into the ring and pulling pins on grenades instead of letting sleeping dogs lie and walk away, okay I’ll indulge you as well, look at the generic, ignorant, try hard, nobody on MAL trying to prove a point nobody asked you to. What criticism are you referring to? We’re seeing things from different lenses so maybe I missed something or was telling someone to read the manga from chapter 1 helping the anime prosper in some way I’m not seeing lmao. Yes they are, excuse me? If you didn’t read the manga, the whole skipped argument wouldn’t exist, case and point, twins tar exorcists, I enjoyed it from start to finish, I didn’t read the manga for it and that definitely didn’t take any enjoyment away from watching it but as soon as I hear about the chapters that left stuff out, I thought hmm Was it important tho? Of course with all things that get left out of the anime, they were later mentioned or didn’t really change much and I couldn’t see why people were bothered, so If shikamori left anything out of the 20 minute runtime over 12 episodes that just says how much it really needed to be adapted, not much at all. Changes happen all the time but it doesn’t really effect the story unless and bear with me this may shock you, IF YOU READ THE MANGA, light novel, etc. i didn’t read any of them….yet and I enjoyed the anime for what it was just as much as others so the complaining coming off as whiny point definitely isn’t doing you any favors but what do I know, it’s not like this anime won’t get a second season, it’s not like I can’t go back and read what was skipped to determine how much impact those changed/skipped chapters would have and form my own opinion on it later but again if it was left out like most things there’s a solid reason for it but again what do I know. You threw your hat into the ring and now I’m throwing it back, feel free to try again if you’d like :)

Average anime-only. In the end, the best way to experience a story will always be through the source material.

that’s quite the take especially since the source material can either be a script with pictures(LN) or the manga, anime will always be superior because it brings something to the table both aforementioned mediums cannot even if the anime leaves out parts that can be used later or skipped entirely. I don’t qualify to be an anime only but it was a good assumption, well “good assumption” is me being nice lmao.

You know that mostly animes were adaptations from the mangas, right? How the fuck you said anime will be always superior? Even anime originals are mostly garbage.

look at little Natsuji_SanQuan jr gonna cry? don’t blame anime for doing your precious adaptation’s job better, thanks for letting me know how anime and manga differ, wow you’re so smart, I should really pick and choose my battles cause I never know when someone as bright as you might show up, man I wish I knew anime adaptions often come from LN & Manga adaptations but now I know and that’s thanks to you figuring that out just now :) Anime will be superior because it’s 2022 you wanna read so badly go back to reading rainbow LeVar Burton, we have access to technology that makes animating possible and yeah when put time into something vs just coming up with it on the fly of course not every anime original is gonna be good although the same can be said about manga I’m sure, but yeah you threw your hat into the ring and now I’m throwing it back to you feel free to try again

No, manga readers are whiny af, do you even realize that those chapters are totally fine by skipping them ?
Shikimori is a manga that has ton of chapters with sole story, meaning skipping these stories or adapting it wouldn't make much difference, and that's what happened
Also the original content they added was very fitting to the plan for making an 12 episodes, like ep 11 was nothing but a good addition to Shikimori's character ..
That being said, this criticism isn't valid at all, and we all know it's just hating at this point
