Hogwarts Legacy, like many games, has both a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition available for players to choose from. With the Deluxe Edition offering additional content and other extras, it's helpful to know what each version offers. That's where this guide comes in.
Updated on June 25, 2023 by Thomas Hawkins: Now that Hogwarts Legacy has been out for a while and information about the game has become more readily available, this guide has been updated where possible to further explain the bonuses offered by the Deluxe Edition and preorder bonuses, and offer some additional details on the Playstation Exclusive quest.
The Standard Edition

The Standard Edition of the game contains the game itself, with preorders also receiving the Onyx Hippogriff Mount and Felix Felicis potion recipe. The Playstation versions additionally come with the "Haunted Hogsmeade Shop" quest, which will remain exclusive to the platform for 1 year.
The Standard Edition is also the least expensive option for purchasing the game. The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest has players taking up the opportunity to run their own shop in Hogsmeade, after speaking with a House Elf and learning of a deal that seems too good to be true. This leads to a short exclusive gameplay sequence involving puzzle solving and two bos fights.

The Onyx Hippogriff Mount becomes available as soon as players have rescued Highwing and unlocked flying mounts during the main story, while the Felix Felicis Potion can be brewed as soon as players have attended their first potions class and thus unlocked potion brewing. The Onyx Hippogriff Mount is purely cosmetic and has the same speed and capabilities as other flying mounts, while Felix Felicis causes gear chests to become visible on the map for one in-game day.
The Deluxe Edition
The Deluxe Edition of the game comes with the same preorder bonuses as the Standard Edition, and PlayStation versions receive the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest just like the Standard Edition. It also comes with three additional benefits. The Dark Arts Arena, which is a combat arena challenge activity, is the first of these benefits.

Players also receive the Dark Arts Garrison Hat and accompanying cosmetic items, allowing players an additional set of clothing options for their character. The final benefit of the Deluxe Edition is 72 Hours of Early Access for the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game, allowing play to begin on February 7th 2023.
The Dark Arts Arena has been shown off in several gameplay trailers and is an accessible location in the game world that allows players to take on a number of tricky combat challenges and test out their skills as a Witch or Wizard against some tough opponents. When entering the Dark Arts Arena players are automatically given access to all three of the Unforgivable Curses regardless of their progress through the game's story, allowing players who missed the opportunity to learn these spells to try them out. The Arena features a variety of enemy types from across the game, acting as a decent test of a player's combat skills.

The Dark Arts Garrison Cosmetics are available as soon as players are able to change their equipment, and are cosmetics that can be applied freely to any gear of the appropriate type (Garrison Hat can be applied to any hat, for example).
