As of April 1, 2016, The Institute of Industrial Engineers became The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. The name change aligns IISE with the changing scope of the profession that, while keeping its industrial base, has seen more industrial and systems engineers (ISEs) working with large-scale, integrated systems in a variety of sectors. The change also is consistent with department names in many universities, as two-thirds of the top 65 schools ranked in U.S. News & World Report have incorporated systems into their department names.
Our mission and vision remains focused on serving the industrial and systems engineers, and our new name reflects that goal.
There are other changes regarding our new name. Our website is now www.iise.org, and our new Twitter is @iisenet.
We’re excited to be an organization that advances, promotes and unites the industrial and systems engineering profession worldwide.
